November 11th has always been a significant date for Col Sandago, Martino Zanetti’s winemaking gem, located in the heart of the Prosecco Superiore Conegliano Valdobbiadene D.O.C.G. area, which confirms its desire to celebrate St. Martin’s Day by welcoming passionate wine tourists and visitors with an extraordinary opening of the Cellar and Wine Shop.

“Open Cellars on St. Martin’s Day” is one of the longest-standing initiatives promoted by the Wine Tourism Movement, offering tours, tastings and unmissable activities dedicated to the discovery of wine excellence. San Martino marks the beginning of the festivities at the end of the harvest season, and at Col Sandago, it is celebrated throughout the day, with cellar tours, wine tastings and entertainment for the younger guests. 

Here are the scheduled activities in detail: 

– Guided Cellar Tours: to discover the behind-the-scenes process from grape to glass.

These visits last about half an hour and are scheduled from 10am to 12 noon and from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. Free tours. Booking required. 

– Wildbacher Experience: a masterclass dedicated to the grape variety that has found its place at Col Sandago. Wildbacher, “a rare diamond with a thousand facets”, is a grape variety from Styria that, in the hands of Col Sandago’s expert agronomists, grows like a great little masterpiece: the rows are scrupulously designed, and the small bunches, with compact and slightly fleshy grapes, are harvested strictly by hand. Participants will learn about the history of this precious grape variety and taste its three main variations: Wildbacher Metodo Classico, Wildbacher IGT, Col Sandago’s iconic red, and Wildbacher Brut Rosé VSQ. Two one-hour appointments are scheduled: at 11am and from 4pm. Free experiences. Booking required (limited places available).

– Open Wine Shop: for this occasion only, there will be the opportunity to taste the Col Sandago DOCG references with a special 10% discount on a selection of wines. The shopping experience will also feature other delicacies from the Hausbrandt Group: Hausbrandt coffee and the Christmas specialties, Theresianer beer with the seasonal Winter Beer, Zerocinquanta beer and the Ronnefeldt teas.

In the afternoon, there will be entertainment for the younger guests as well as musical entertainment. “Open Cellar on St. Martin’s day”: a tradition that is renewed, a great celebration at Col Sandago.
